Dear Friends of the Library,Much health and happiness to all of you in this NewYear. Thank you in advance for your continuedsupport of the Adams County Library System. We have again made a commitment of $60,000 toour library for this year and your membership duesaccount for one-third of that amount. Business at theFriends Store is booming and we raised a recordamount of $26,000 at our Annual Book Sale lastAugust. We are also recycling ink cartridges whichcan be dropped off at the Store. We must rely even more heavily on our Friends inthese difficult economic times. Library usage is at anall time high and state subsidies continue to shrink. In an effort to increase membership and patronage atthe Store, we will be reaching out to the communityin different ways over the next year. —Flyers will be posted in local businessesurging people to join the FOL. —We will be talking to participants of thevarious book groups around the county to urge themto join and explaining the bargains to be had in our Store. —The Store will be supplying children’s books to the Soup Kitchen as a community outreachto get more books into the hands of our children……..and we hope you can give us even more ideas!
What can you do to help?
Spread the word about recycling ink cartridges – Perhaps your place of business will donatetheir used cartridges to the FOL – please ask!Cartridges can be dropped off at the Store.
Continue to donate all of those wonderful books, tapes, CD’s, and DVD’s. Donations are acceptedany time in the rear of the library – just ring the bell. We will even pick-up large donations.
Patronize the Store – remember that you receivea 20% discount as a FOL.
Tell your friends about the quality and greatvariety of books available in our Store evenif they do not choose to join..
Consider raising your level of membership for the coming year.
Give a membership as a gift – perhaps as a birthday surprise for a young reader andthen bring them to the Store.
Let us know if there is a place where wecan post our flyer or if there is a group wecan approach to discuss membership in the FOL.E-mail your ideas and comments email@example.com.The library has always been a great bargain and iseven more so in times of economic downturn. Let’sget the word out to our friends and neighbors andmake this year the most successful in FOL history.Thank you very much for your support.
