Most studies of contemporary Northeast Asian security focus on the U.S. interaction with China, Japan or South Korea and are concerned withaspects of national power. The present chapter takes a more intra-regional and sociological approach, examining trends in mutual trust within Beijing and Tokyo’ssecurity relations with Seoul. Focusing on ROK-China and ROK-Japan relations has advantages in addiction to covering new ground. These relaonships present interesting points of comparison as they address similar security environmentsin different ways
