Cake decorating frosting recipes can sure come in handy. In cake decorating,frosting or icing is the most important part. If your frosting is good then you candecorate the cake with different designs. If the frosting is not good then yourbeautiful design does not look attractive.Here is a simple cake decorating frosting recipe for Buttercream frosting.You will need* 1/2 cup of butter* 1/2 cup solid shortening* 1 teaspoon vanilla* 4 cups sifted confectioners sugar* 2 tablespoons milkTake the butter and solid shortening in a bowl and beat it with electric mixer atmedium speed. Add vanilla. Gradually add the confectioner's sugar one cup at atime. Keep beating the mixture well. After all sugar has gone in the bowl themixture will look dry. Add 2 tablespoons milk and beat the mixture until it appearslight and fluffy.Your basic Buttercream frosting is ready.But when you are decorating your cake at times you need different consistencies infrosting. You can make frosting with various consistencies at home. For that youwill need,* 4 cups of confectioners sugar* 1 cup solid vegetable shortening* 1 tablespoon egg white powder or meringue* 2 tablespoons water, warm* 1 teaspoon clear vanilla extract* 1/2 teaspoon salt* 1 teaspoon light syrupIn a large mixing bowl mix sift the confectioner's sugar and the egg white powder.Dissolve the salt in the warm water. Cream the shortening. Add the cream and thesalted water together. Start adding one cup of sugar to the mix at a time. Scrape thesides of the bowl. At a medium speed mix it for 5 minutes with a hand held mixer.If you are using a stand up mixer use it on low for 2 minutes.The above mixture will give you frosting with a stiff consistency. If you want tomake flowers remove one cup from the bowl and keep aside to make flowers.
