LAB 1: SEPARATION OF AMMONIA AND WATER

Objective: Understand the usage of condenser, valve and separation process Process: A mixture of ammonia and water in the vapor phase is fed at 143.6 C, saturated at 1724 kPa and containing 80wt% ammonia is passed through a condenser at a flow rate of 10,000 lbmol/hr. Heat was removed at the rate of 5.8 x 106 Btu/hr. Its effluent was expended with an outlet pressure of the valve is 1034 kPa and fed into a flash vessel. Flash vessel temperature was 40.63 C.
