This white paper describes the opportunity for grocery stores to create unique recommendations for their customers, based on each person's individual shopping history.
The idea is to take much of what is happening in retail online, such as Amazon recommendations, and apply it to the offline world of physical retail.
Grocers carry over 45,000 SKUs, but generally only promote the most popular items. With a recommendation system, grocers can promote the ling tail of their customers' interests. And increase loyalty in the process.
CPGs can participate as well, getting much closer to their end customers, while protecting the privacy of individual shoppers.
