The Solid Waste Management Plan (SWMP) is critical to creating a fair and environmentally responsible system for handling waste in New York City. The plan calls for eliminating 6 million miles of truck traffic each year and providing relief to those communities that currently handle the great majority of the city's waste. The Organization of Waterfront Neighborhoods (OWN) and the New York City environmental Justice Alliance (NYC-EJA) will host a community forum to discuss the challenges Bronx residents face while waiting for the relief promised by the SWMP
