Equipment - Inspection Corrosion

ENGLISH: TMA / PET1-E

5 DAYS

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Graduate engineers, technical staff and supervisors working in the petroleum, petrochemical or rening industries who need to improve their knowledge and understanding of static equipment.

PIPES - FLANGES - VALVES

Piping codes and standards. Different types of anges, valves, bolts and gaskets. Steam traps, lters. Safety valves, rupture disk devices (bursting discs). Theory and components of a control loop, control valves.

0.5 d

OBJECTIVES
To provide in-depth knowledge of static equipment encountered on petroleum, petrochemical or renery sites. On completion of the course, participants: know the technology and basic operation of static equipment are able to optimize the operation of static equipment safely and reliably.

VESSEL AND STORAGES FACILITIES

Columns, reactors, drums, storage tanks: design and construction codes. Internal equipment (bafes, distribution trays, packing grids, catalyst bed supports, cyclones, demister pads, ).

0.5 d

MATERIAL - CORROSION
Mechanical properties, impact of welding. Metallurgical degradations. Origin and development of each form of corrosion and possible prevention strategies. Designing equipment to avoid certain types of corrosion. Material selection for environmental constraints.

PETROCHEMICALS

PEDAGOGY
All topics are illustrated by the presentation of components or parts of equipment. Dismounted equipment parts are used as learning aids. Handling the components is complimented with pictures and/or videos that show complete installations.

HEAT EXCHANGERS
TEMA standard heat exchangers nomenclature, selection criteria for different types of shell, front ends and rear ends, oating end construction. Tubes: lengths, diameters and gages, pattern and pitch, tube-to-tubesheet joints, maintenance and cleaning. Bafes and support plates: type of transverse bafes, bafe cuts, spacing. Inuence of design rules on heat exchanger performance. Other types of heat exchangers (storage tank heaters, double-pipe coils, plate-type exchangers) and air cooled exchangers: technology overview.

FURNACES AND BOILERS

Different types of furnaces and their function. Operating conditions. Boiler technology. Efciency of heat recovery. Air and ue gas circulation: natural and forced draft. Burner technology and operation: fuel and air supply and mixture. Air/fuel ratio control. Application: natural and forced draft pressure in a furnace and a boiler diagram; presentation of different types of burners and spraying systems.
