Everything was against us— the McCarthy-era politics, competition with another picture, everything. I am 95 years old. When I was born, Woodrow Wilson was in theWhite House. I’ve lived through sixteen presidents, two World Wars, theGreat Depression, and a score o political crises rom Teapot Dome toWatergate to Bill Clinton’s impeachment or being publicly serviced inthe White House.
