AcknowledgmentsA number of people assisted in the preparation of this thesis. In no particular order, I would liketo thank: Lisa Dietrich and Krin Gabbard for their extremely valuable comments on early portions of this work; Kirsten Iverson, Joseph Miller, James Pearson, and Andrew Wasserman for numerous conversations that helped to illuminate various portions of my argument and provideda great deal of levity to what otherwise might have been an impossible task; Jake Dobkin for hisgenerous decision to publish photographs under a Creative Commons license and for allowingme to use his photographs in this work; and last, but certainly not least, John Lutterbie and ZabetPatterson for their invaluable advice, support, and encouragement throughout the writing andediting process.

I'm looking at doing a thesis covering some of the same subject matter but analyzing through a completely different lens. Could you tell me what topic this was a thesis for? I figured it could be art, communications, philosophy, possibly even economics.
