Wilson batted .500 (12x24) with 2 doubles, 4 home runs and 8 RBI over 6games during that span, leading the Rainiers to 5 wins over the club’s last 6 games. The 28-year-old led the PCL in home runs, on-base percentage (.571) and slugging percentage (1.083), wasT2nd in extra-base hits, T3rd in runs (7) and hits, and T4th in RBI. Wilson turned in 3 multi-hitgames during that stretch, including a season-high 4-hit effort at Salt Lake on June 13 that saw theoutfielder hit 2 home runs and produce 3 RBI in Tacoma’s 14-10 victory over the Bees. The Tulsa,OK belted a 3-run home run and collected 3 RBI in Tacoma’s series opener at Sacramento on June14, then went 3x3 with a home run against the River Cats the next night on June 15. Nick Franklin
has been namedthe Topps Southern League Player of the Month for May, an award voted upon by SouthernLeague Field managers. Franklin is the Generals' first recipient of the honor since Mike Wilson inJune of 2008, when the club was known as the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx. Franklin led theSouthern League with a .394 average (28-for-71), which ranked eighth in all of Minor LeagueBaseball in May. He also led the league with a .457 on-base percentage and a .648 sluggingpercentage, adding up to a 1.105 OPS (on-base plus slugging) that was good for second inDouble A. Overall, the 21-year-old hit safely in 17 of 20 games during the month with half of his 28hits going for extra bases (10 doubles, 4 triples). He produced 2 triples and a double as part of a4x4 performance against the Mobile BayBears on May 18 and turned in another 4x4 effort 8 dayslater. On May 28, Franklin began a period for which he earned Southern League Player of theWeek honors by legging out a pair of triples against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. Franklin stolesix bases in as many attempts and committed just one error during the month.

: The Mavericks wraped up their first half with a 5-2 win over Rancho Cucamonga on Saturday night. The win moved the Mavericksinto a 1st place tie atop the California Leauge Southern division. The Mavericks and Quakes will play in Adelanto on June 25. Whoeverwins that game will be the 1st-half champion, clinching a playoff berth and a 1st-round bye.
