3.ThroughitsPrivacyPolicy,LinkedInpromisesitsusersthat"[ajllinformation15that[they)provide[toLinkedIn]willbeprotectedwithindustrystandardsprotocolsand16technology,"!Indirectcontradictiontothispromise,Linkedlnfailedtocomplywithbasic17industrystandardsbymaintainingmillionsofusers'Pllinitsservers'databasesinaweak18encryptionformat,andwithoutimplementingothercrucialsecuritymeasures.194.Sometimethisyear,hackersinfiltratedLinkedIn'sserversandaccessed20database(s)containingitsusers'Pll,Afterretrievingthisdata,thehackerspubliclyposted21over6millionLinkedInusers'passwordsonline.BecauseLinkedInusedinsufficient22encryptionmethodstosecuretheuserdata,hackerswereabletoeasilydecipheralarge23numberofthepasswords.24
