Conclusion
Various risks arise right from the concept stage to operation of solar energy projects.
These risks impede the growth of the sector especially in cases where the financing gap needs to be filled by local banks and financial institutions. Technical risk is a primary factor and ways to mitigate the risk and secure the investment is gaining a lot of prominence. However, in the case of policy uncertainty and regulatory risk much more needs to be done to ensure that stakeholders are incentivized to enter and remain in the sector. With the right mix of mitigation factors addressing all the risk factors mentioned in this presentation, it is hoped that the solar energy sector in Asia can reach its maximum potential.
