Revised 200
2 Case Interview Study Guide ©
Welcome to Wharton’s revised Case Interview Study Guide! The Guide wascompiled by your consulting club members to help you prepare for the firststep towards your dream consulting job the interview. Typically, candidates encounter both a fit interview as well as a case interview. Thelatter comprises an example of the type of problems that consultantsgenerally face. It is important to remember that there is no “right” answerfor case interviews. Instead, the successful interviewee is one that is able tothink through the issues, develop a structured response and confidentlycommunicate these to the interviewer. This Guide is meant to help you inthat process, and we encourage you to practice as many sample cases aspossible, from this source as well as others, in order to tackle the casequestions you will encounter. This Guide outlines a description of the types of cases that you will likelyencounter. It also provides frameworks that will help you construct astructured response. The final section of the Guide includes a number of sample cases that were given to first and second years during the pastrecruiting season. They represent the latest arsenal of cases interviewershave used on students. You should view them as being representative othe type of cases you will get during your interviews. Keep in mind, however, that interviewers draw on their actual consulting experience tocreate their interview cases, and that the interviewer will modify the casebased on your responses. Thus, each case is different for each student.
