Due to vacations, school being out and the summer heat we have deliberately cut back on classes for the summer. We are listing classes that have been requested and if you have any preference please call or email the store and we will try our best to accommodate you. Happy Summer!

Beginning Quilting with Becky Madasz or Roni Hunt

This class will take you from fabric selection to binding your projects with the beautiful sample below. Beckys class will run on Wednesdays for 4 weeks, beginning July 18, from 10-2:00. $40. Book Required. Ronis class will run on Saturdays for 4 weeks, and can be scheduled upon request. Call the store and we will schedule your day with Roni. Book Required.

Beginning Applique with Becky Madasz

Becky will be teaching the basics of needle turn applique. This class will meet the second Monday of July and August, beginning July 9. The second class will meet Monday, August 13. All classes run from 102:00, $12.00. Kit required.

Vintage Rouge Block of the Month

Kits are still available and you can still join in the fun! Vintage Rouge will be our next block of the month running July November 2012. If you wish to attend the classes they will meet Monday, July 16, and Monday, August 20th. Class fee is $12, and the cost of each months kit varies due to size and amount of blocks included. Classes run from 10:00 to 2:00. Finished size: 78 x 78 Block of the month quilts are meant to challenge quilters to try something new. Each month, for six months, you'll receive fabrics and Vicki Bellino's directions for a section of the quilt with piecing, applique, English paper piecing and embroidery techniques. Call today to reserve your kits. Becky Madasz will be teaching this exciting class. Class attendance is not required to purchase the kits. This classic red and green quilt was designed by Vicki Bellino of Bloom Creek Quilts using Vintage Rouge by Marcus Fabrics. Once again we will have a LIMITED amount of kits. Pinwheel Garden with Linda Simon

Many of you loved the Itty Bitty Pinwheel Quilt. Here is another stunning small block quilt created using traditional piecing techniques. Miniature quilt finishes at 22 x 28. Use up some of your own scraps like Linda did or purchase a kit. Wednesday, August 15th, learn how to piece the 3 pinwheel blocks and on Wednesday, August 22nd, make the border and work on quilt assembly. Class fee for both days, $30. Pattern required. You are welcome to use your own fabrics but it you want to order a kit, please let us know by August 1st.

Bastille Day!
Ooh! La! La! Parlez-vous Franais ? Come and celebrate all things French! Saturday, July 14th is Bastille Day after all! Join us and learn to make our little French Baskets. We have three versions and you should be able to complete at least 2 baskets that day. Pattern is included! Well have a taste of France for you to enjoy. This ongoing class reviews needle turn applique techniques. Make the class sample or another pattern of your choosing. The fee is $15.00 per class. Class held the second Saturday of each month, from 102:00, beginning Saturday, July 14th. The second class will be meeting Saturday, August 11th.

The Country Quilts and Bears Shop Challenge is Underway!

OK, all of you talented ladies - it's time again for our shop challenge. After a short hiatus we've decided to hop back in and see what the incredibly talented quilters who hang out at our shop create for the competition. We've chosen four exciting new Bali fabrics to stir your imagination. Using the Balis we've chosen for the challenge, you may use a published pattern or create your very own design to complete your entry. The kit consists of four half yard cuts of beautiful Hoffman Balis and can be purchased for $19.95. We can't wait to see what you create. The fabrics are shown below:

Country Quilts and Bears Challenge Rules

1. Must use some of the four challenge fabrics. 2. Can include up to four more fabrics. 3. Please create smaller items. No large quilts. 4. Must have personal quilting either hand or machine. No professional longarm quilting. 5. Embellishments allowed. 6. Your entry must be returned to Country Quilts by October 1, 2012. 7. All entries will be on display so customers can vote for their favorite during the month of Oct. 8. Its A Wrap Basket Class with Susan Freebery

Wrap, wind, and sew fabric strips into fantastic containers, place mats, rugs or trivets. Create all those things using cotton clothesline and strips of fabric from your stash or yardage that you cut into strips. This is a fun, easy and rewarding class and you will leave with a basket you are proud to call your own!

How about making one from that left over fabric from a baby quilt and it can then be used to hold loose items in the nursery. The skys the limit and dont forget, Christmas is right around the corner how about getting ready early this year?
