Reunion Happy Hours:

Our friends from the Class of 2007 just came back from the Slope from their 1st reunion. With only a year to go for ours, we want to get our engines running in preparation for our first. With that in mind, we have organized a 5th Year Reunion Countdown Happy Hour to take place in NYC and DC simultaneously, in commemoration of Reunion 2012 and in preparation for Reunion 2013. More details will be available in our Facebook Fan Page: Click here!

Want to organize a happy hour in your city? Let Steve or Nikki know. Email them at sja33@cornell.edu and nm235@cornell.edu

Superstar Athletes:

Cornell 08 Edition

Fellow 08ers are excelling all over the World in many professions. Some of our classmates are putting sports fans on their feet as they excel in their respective sport. In an effort to support our classmates that are playing professional sports, we have put together a list of 08ers that currently play or compete in a professional sporting league. A calendar of their upcoming games will be provided in our Facebook Fan Page. Get a group of 08ers together to watch a game live, buy their jerseys or simply let your friends know that thats a fellow Cornellian. Go Big Red! * Know other 08ers playing professional sports? Let us know!

Raymond Sawada (Hockey)

Recently traded to the Winnipeg Jets, Sawada is part of their AHL team, St. Johns IceCaps. His team made it to the Eastern Conference Finals facing the Norfolk Admirals in just their first season. Great job, Ray!

Muhammad Halim (Track and Field)

As mentioned in our previous newsletter, Muhammad is part of the U.S. Virgin Islands Track and Field Team and will be participating in the Olympic Games that will take place at London this summer. Make sure to tune in to cheer for our National Champion!

Jason Hartford (Basketball)

After graduating from Cornell in 2008, Hartford has played in professional leagues in Portugal, Finland and Mozambique. Now, he is gearing up for the Yamhill Highflyers in the International Basketball League (IBL). From ballin at Newman to arenas all over the World, Jason keeps putting Cornell Sports on the map.

Topher Scott (Hockey)

Any resemblance to the story line of the movie The Mighty Ducks its pure coincidence. Superstar player returns to his Alma Mater to mentor young players and serve as an assistant coach. Well, its not Gordon Bombay, but our own, big man on Campus, Topher Scott. After playing professionally in the Central Hockey League, Topher returned to help guide the Big Red to another great season, coming up a Win short of the Frozen Four. Interested in putting together an intramural team with fellow 08ers? Planning to run a marathon and would like to connect with other 08ers that are into running? Email Lance (lep35@cornell.edu) or Feldman (jef49@cornell.edu) , our in-house Sports Experts.

Reunion 2013
Planning for Reunion 2013 its already underway. But before we move any further, we want to hear from you. What would it take for you to attend? What type of events would you like us to host? Food? Music? In the next couple of weeks you will receive an email from our Alumni Council asking you to complete a questionnaire regarding Reunion 2013. Your answers will be instrumental in putting together a game plan. Please take a few minutes to give us some direction as we move forward. If you would like to join our Reunion 2013 Team or provide any suggestions, please email our Co- Chairs, Margaret Sheehe (mfs32@cornell.edu) and Ebony Scott (ejs65@cornell.edu).

Connect with 08
We are always looking for ways to connect fellow 08ers and provide for

opportunities to meet other classmates. Both our Alumni Council and Cornell University are putting together mechanisms to facilitate such interactions. Cornell has recently unveiled Cornell Connect, an online community of Cornellians. You can create a profile, post updates, share your resume and other cool functions. Visit the website and start connecting. Also, our Alumni Council has recently opened an official account in two of the networks that we use on a day-to-day basis: Facebook and Twitter. Add us on Twitter and tweet us your updates, suggestions or simply use it to put together a group of 08ers to hang out or go to a game. @BIGRED2008 Like our Fan Page on Facebook and invite other 08ers to the same. We will be updating the page constantly with information about Reunion 2013, our Happy Hours, information on sporting events and general information about Cornell and our class. Visit our page now at Cornell University Class of 2008. Finally, visit our LinkedIn group and post updates about your professional career.
