Craft an Effective Resume
The resume explains your experience, what kinds o classesyou taught, your school improvement, and any co-curricularactivities you directed. The resume will help make the fnal saleto secure a place on the interview list.— Robert W. Pollock, Ed.D.
 There is a vast amount o inormation available on resume writing in hundreds o books, countless magazine articles, and numerous career workshops devotedto this topic alone. This one section can only supplement a more thoroughexamination o resume writing. When I worked in business, I reviewed manythousands o resumes. In doing so, I identied some essential elements neededor every resume, and put together some tips on how to make your resumemore eective.Your resume has two important unctions. First, it highlights yourachievements (proessional and academic) and community involvement.Secondly, your resume shows prospective employers that you are qualiedor the job or which you are applying by showing how your skills meet the jobspecications. It should come as no surprise, then, that since you have a diversebackground and the jobs you are applying or vary in duties and responsibilitiesyou will need more than one version o your resume.Every resume has the same components—contact inormation, education,and experience. Your resume may also have:

Personal Contact Information
 This section is sel-explanatory; it should include your name, address, phonenumber, email address, and any other inormation that you think would assista principal or hiring committee in contacting you. Please note that i you areworking rom an older resume template you should check that your inormationis correct. Silly as it may seem I have had numerous incidents where I went tocall a qualied candidate or an interview and the phone number on the resumewas incorrect.
Objective
It is not essential to include a career objective in your resume. More and moreexperts are saying that an objective is a waste o scarce space that could be
usedtohighlightanotherskilloraccomplishment.Ontheotherhand,some
hiring managers preer resumes with an objective because it allows them toeasily sort and le resumes according to job openings. I you include one, yourobjective statement should be concise and specic to the job or which you areapplying. The sample statement (below) is right to the point and lets the hiringmanager know what the job seeker wants.
Education and Certification
Include here the degrees you have received, name(s) o the school(s) yougraduated rom, dates o graduation, and any other studies that contribute toyour qualications as a teacher. I you do not have a lot o work experience,then highlight your academic successes, such as awards or honors you have
