For

Tom

Klahm,

ba
ling

cancer

is

one

of

the

biggest

gamesof

his

life.

As

a

football

coach

at

Trinity

Chris
an

Academy

forthe

past

four

years,

Tom

knows

a

lot

about

conqueringopponents.

So

when

he

wasdiagnosed

with

coloncancer

in

December2011,

his

strategy

Tom,

Further

as

well

as

colon

cancer

that

hadmetastasized

to

his

liver

and

lymph

nodes.

Tom

underwent

surgery

and

then

began

chemotherapy

atThe

Center's

Weatherford

Campus

earlier

this

year.

He

and

his

wife,

Sharon,

who

teaches

drama

and

music

atTrinity

Chris
an

Academy,

have

found

an

abundance

of support

from

their

community.

Friends

and

supporters

fromtheir

school

have

helped

them

out

with

everything

fromhousework

to

meals

and

transporta
on

to

appointments.

Thechurch,

where

they

are

members

and

serve

as

Sunday

schoolteachers,

has

helped

raise

money

for

Tom's

medical

bills.

Tom's

impact

on

others

isevident

by

a

scrapbook

of over
owing

le
ers

andcards

received

fromstudents,

friends

andsupporters.

He

has

alreadyencouraged

several

of

hisfriends

to

get

screened

forcolon

cancer.

Because

of

his

strongfaith,

Tom

believes

he

is

in

awin
win

situa
on.

"We

win

if

we

beat

it;

wewin

if

we

don't,"

Tom

says."I

have

no

fear

because

Iknow

God

is

taking

care

of me."

Tom's

message

of

hopeto

fellow

survivors

is

simple:"Seek

God

rst,

have

faithand

accept

help

from

friends."

As

his

co
survivor,

Sharonadvises

others

to

"take

it

one

day

at

a
me."
