Imagine
star

the
holidays
learning
you
are
pregnant,then
being
diagnosed
with
an
aggressive
breast
cancer
dayslater.
That
was
the
predicament
I
found
myself
in
lastNovember.
Days
a
er
receiving
my
devasta

diagnosis
andwith
a
whirlwind
of

I
met
Dr.
Robyn
Young
at
TheCenter.

I

that
I

me
thecon

I
needed
toproceed
with
treatmentwhile
pregnant,
whichwould
include
amastectomy
andchemotherapy.
Coping
with
breastcancer
while
pregnantwas
never
easy,
as
therewas
absolutely
nothingany
physician
could
tellme
that
wouldcompletely
alleviate
allmy
fears.
However,
Dr.
Young,Helena
Iannaccone,
andall
of
The
Center's
sta

always
did
their
best
tomake
me
feel
comfortable
and
at
ease
while
receivingtreatment.
During
my
ba

my
family
and
friends
helped
me,upli
ed
me
and
even
raised
funds
for
my
medical
expenses.But
it
was
fellow

that
gave
me
hope.
Another

me
the

on
my
journey."Remember,
a

everything,"
Dora
told
me.
I
watchedas
she
completed
her
treatment
with
such
a
posi

outlook,knowing
that
would
soon
be
me
too.
On
the
day
I
was
scheduled
to
receive
my
fi
nal
chemotreatment,
I
instead
gave
birth
to
my
daughter.
Born
six
weekspremature,
but
perfectly
healthy,
my
ny
miracle
had
arrivedand
I
fi
nally
had
serenity.
Thus,
her
name
would
be
SerenityMilagros
(Milagros
meaning
miracles
in
Spanish).
Unlike
me,who
by
this
me
was
completely
bald,
Serenity
was
born
witha
full
head
of
hair.
Five
days
a

delivery,
Serenity
and
I
wereboth
able
to
go
home.
Last
year
the
holidays
were
a
challenge,
but
I
am
sograteful
that
I
received
treatment
at
The
Center,
a
placewhere
I
found
compassion,
but
most
of
all,
where
I
foundhope.
