April Officer Elections
The Elmwood Neighborhood Association currently holdsannual elections each April at the monthly meeting. Tobe eligible to vote and run for office, individuals must bemembers in good standing (i.e. paid their dues for 2012).So long as the treasurer has your dues in hand prior tovoting, you are eligible to vote in person. All dues paidrun through the end of the calendar year so if you paid in2011, it is time to renew. A member in good standingmay nominate candidates (also members in goodstanding), by emailingelmwoodna.oakcliff@gmail.com, or by calling Randy Cress @ 214-244-1027. Nominationscan also be made at the April meeting prior to voting.Ballots will be printed a few days before the meeting.
Duties of ENA OfficersPresident
- The President oversees the operation of theAssociation and represents the ENA at all meetingsoutside the Association, such as City Council Town Hall or Budget meetings, and the Old Oak Cliff ConservationLeague meetings.
 
VP Communications
 
 – 
This VP oversees thenewsletter, web site and any other form ofcommunication from the Association.
 
VP Code Enforcement
 
 – 
The Code EnforcementVP educates the neighborhood on codeenforcement and finds and reports codeviolations.
 
VP Conservation
 
 – 
This VP educates theneighborhood on conservation and heads theconservation process for Elmwood.
 
VP Membership
 
 – 
The VP of Membership overseesefforts to increase and retain membership.
 
Secretary
 
 – 
The Secretary keeps attendancerecords and records minutes of all associationmeetings.
 
Treasurer
The Treasurer collects dues, pays bills,creates an annual budget and keeps financialrecords.

Jasso at April Meeting
District 1, Councilmember Delia Jasso will be present atthe

ENA meeting to discuss the bondprogram, the Mayor's Southern Dallas effort and thebudget for 2012-2014.
Fallen Firefighters’ Memorial
 
Fire Station 26, the hook & ladder station located atJefferson & Westmoreland, has lost 2 firefighters in thelast 10 years
 – 
Vince Davis in 2002 and Todd Krodle in2011. Nola Rae Smith of Kessler Plaza and BarbaraBarbee of Beverly Hills are spearheading the effort tocreate a memorial for these two firefighters. Their goalis to raise $3,300 dollars ASAP so that construction of thememorial at the station can begin. If you would like todonate (any amount would be appreciated!), send acheck to Credit Union, 7474 Ferguson Road, Dallas,Texas 75228. Make your check payable to: CFA(Christian Firefighters Association) Memorial Fund. Onthe Memo Line, put: Account No. 1775790. DAS Rapid Response Team
If you encounter an aggressive dog or loose dogs
running in a pack, contact Dallas Animal Services’
Rapid Response Team @ 214-670-3278. Pleaseremember that DAS gets thousands of calls eachyear. A Rapid Response strategy will work if used onlywhen necessary. On the other hand, if you feel ananimal poses an immediate danger to you or your pet, call 911.

for walks weekday mornings at 6:30 a.m. at the corner of Brunner & Elmwood. She also plans to holdexercise and yoga classes on Saturdays at 8:00 a.m.in Elmwood Park (Elmwood & Edgefield) beginning

The Dallas Police Department Wants YOU!

Bulk Trash Pickup Reminder
Bulk trash is picked up in Elmwood on the fourth (4th)Monday of each month, which is not necessarily the lastMonday of the month (some months have fiveMondays). You can start placing your bulk trash on thecurb at 6 p.m. the Thursday before. Email reminders are
sent each month to participants in ENA’s Yahoo Group.

Water Restrictions in Force
Step One drought conditions will remain in effect atleast through June 8th. According to Yvonne Duprewith the City of Dallas this will probably continuethroughout the summer and, if a drought-managementplan is triggered, watering restrictions may becomepermanent. Under Step One conditions:
 
EVEN
numbered addresses may only water onSundays and Thursdays.
 
ODD
numbered addresses may only water onSaturdays and Wednesdays.
 
DO NOT water your yard between 10 a.m. and 6p.m. Hand watering or the use of soaker hoses,however, is permitted at any time.
 
DO NOT water during any form of precipitation.
 
DO NOT allow your sprinkler system to waterdriveways, sidewalks or streets.
 
DO remember that automatic sprinkler systemowners are required to have rain and freeze sensorsinstalled.
 
DO maintain your sprinkler system. Repair anybroken, missing or misdirected sprinkler heads.
