By ROBERT LINNEHAN
The Voorhees Sun
It’s not exactly “The IncredibleJourney,” but if Mitzy the beaglepointer mix could talk, she wouldhave some amazing tales to tell. The two-and-a-half year oldrescue dog disappeared in Eve-sham Township on Saturday, May19, after running away from herowner and into the woods behindGeorgia O’Keefe Way.After more than two weeks onthe lam, the frightened dog wasfound on Wednesday, June 6, onWilliam Feather Drive inVoorhees Township.Mitzy was hanging out at afriend’s house, one that she hadonly been to on a handful of occa-sions.No, seriously. Her owner, Dina Greenblatt, said she believes that Mitzycaught the scent of her dog friendMolly – a golden labradoodle – while she was running throughthe woods behind SturbridgeLakes in Voorhees Township.Mitzy and Molly are both fans of the dog park in John ConnollyPark in Voorhees Township andplay there frequently while theirowners chat.“The only other people outsideof the four members of our fami-ly that she trusts are her dogfriend Molly and her mommyMaryanne,” Greenblatt said. “Itwas unbelievable. She had onlybeen to Molly’s house twice be-fore during our two-year friend-ship.”The rescue dog is extremelynervous and skittish, Greenblattexplained, and was most likelyabused before the VoorheesTownship family adopted her.The family had been visiting rela-tives in Evesham Township whenMitzy disappeared on May 19.After spending hours in thewoods looking for Mitzy – andhaving to be rescued herself bythe Evesham Township Policeafter she got lost – Greenblatt re-turned home and immediatelywent online to see what could bedone.Greenblatt started a Facebookpage and posted a listing onCraigslist urging all residents inthe area to call if they saw the dogrunning through their neighbor-hood. They posted her informa-tion on a pet tracking websitecalled FindToto.com as well, which sent out a phone messageblast about Mitzy to registered
