In October 2006, Mark Halperin asked Heather Wilson, “Is there anything immoral abouthomosexuality?” Wilson answered, “
 There arethings I’m willing to tolerate but I’m not willing to approve of 
. And giving someone thetitle of marriage is asking for approval.” Whenpressed, Wilson said, “Well, with respect to, withrespect to homosexuality, as I said, there arethings I’m willing to tolerate that I’m not willing to approve of.” [ABC Politics Live Transcript,10/27/06] Wilson said she “tolerates” homosexuality, but would oppose a gay rights bill. The Albuquerque Journal wrote, “On other issues,
 Wilson…saidshe does not support ‘special rights’ for gaysand lesbians
. ‘There are things I’m willing totolerate, but I’m not willing to approve of in law,’she said.” [Albuquerque Journal, 6/19/98]
Marriage Equality/Civil Unions

 Wilson opposed anti-LGBT bullying legislation
 According to the Huffington Post, “Heather Wilson…came out against Sen. Al Franken’s (D-MN) anti-LGBT bullying legislation last week,claiming it would criminalize teasing and ‘punish children.’” Wilson said, “There are things I’m willing to tolerate that I’m not willing to approve,” and claimed that the bill would ‘criminalize’ instances in which one child makes fun of another for having a “low voice,” and that it would outlaw anyoneexpressing an opinion “with respect to homosexuality in the schools.” [Huffington Post,4/19/12 ]
