Critical Incident Technique(CIT)
It is a set of procedures used for collecting directobservations of human behaviour that havecritical significance and meet methodicallydefined criteria. These observations are then kepttrack of as incidents, which are then used to solvepractical problems and develop broadpsychological principles. A critical incident can bedescribed as one that makes a significantcontribution either positively or negatively to anactivity.
 
History of CIT method / technique:
 
This method was developed by Flanaganduring World War II (Director of the Divisionof Aviation Psychology, United States Army AirForces).He described critical incident technique as aset of procedures used to collect observationsof human behaviour. These observations areused to solve practical problems and developpsychological principles.
