Deciding where to get ready for your wedding might seem like a no-brainer. But whether yourgetting married in Perth or the South West, home is not always the ideal location for manyreasons. Some couples are already living together and want to put some tradition into the dayby getting ready separately, maybe it's a destination wedding, or there's a large bridal party anda small home or maybe the home will be filled with interstate and overseas guests. Some brideshave a vision for their wedding photographs so will chose a location based on the setting. Sobefore you decide that home is the only place to get ready, consider some alternatives. If it's a case of living together some women choose to "go home" to their parents for thenostalgia of where they grew up. Other times it can be much easier for the bride to stay put andthe groom to leave. The bride will have everything she needs at her finger tips and what thebride needs is usually a lot more than what the groom needs! If there are a number of bridesmaids or the home is now a hotel for guests it may be wise to pamper yourself and moveout to a hotel or resort. Our years of experience as Perth wedding photographers, has allowed us to see many different options. Some work well and some have potential disadvantages and challenges. Here are someoptions and tips to help you make a decision:

If you are having your wedding at a hotel or resort, you may be able to use privaterooms to get ready. You may even consider a nearby B&B as a place to get ready. If you cannot each have your own space to get ready, it is often customary for the bride to usethe facilities offered at a hotel. Women tend to need more room and more time forgetting ready!

If you are both in the same location eg resort or hotel it will be easy for your Perthwedding photographer to capture some photos of both the bride and the groom beforethe ceremony. Photos of the guys hanging our by the pool or having a game of cardswhile the girls are fussing and fluffing are great keepsakes of your wedding day.

Thinking about getting ready at home? Consider the fact that it could be complicated foryour whole wedding party (particularly for the bride) to get ready there
unless you’ve a
couple of bathrooms and space for hair and make up artist and your weddingphotographer.Carefully plan and try to find a locale that will accommodate a group of women getting ready together (if your wedding party is a larger one). Think aboutordering in breakfast or brunch and refreshments so no one feels faint at the church dueto forgetting sustenance.

Do you have a close family member or wedding party member with a big home near theceremony location? This might be ideal for either the bride or the groom and theirattendants to get ready. Just make sure there's not an annoying pet that could putmuddy paws on the bridal gown or shed hair on the grooms black suit!
