Advayrthabhvankrama
Namo buddhya Verse One

prva skandheu nairtmya naisvbhvya ca bhyata / grhyagrhakayo nya tato jna ca bhvayet //
First contemplate the selflessness of the personal aggregates
Investigating the subjective sphere of the five aggregates, ascertain the absence of self within. Resting in that awareness, contemplate outer phenomena -

and the essencelessness of the external sphere.

Realizing the interdependence of all enteties, contemplate the absence of ownbeing in all external phenomena. Inner and outer spheres being devoid of self and essence, contemplate the nature of mind -

Thence meditate on consciousness, devoid of grasper and grasped.

Having ascertained selflessness within and essencelessness without, no true duality obtains, consciousness is devoid of grasper and grasped.

Verse Two

taj jna ca svaya uddham anutpannam anlayam / bhvayec ca tatas tattva niprapaca prabhsvaram //
That consciousness is itself pure, devoid of origin and abode,
Realize the total purity and essencelessness of the phenomena of mind itself - it has no origin, and it rests on no basis. Thus abandoning duality and selfgrasping, contemplate reality -

Meditate, therefore, on reality devoid of all proliferation, luminous in nature.

Abandoning the phenomena of mind as an illusory appearance, dwell in reality, luminosity devoid of all conceptual proliferation.

Verse Three

prapacopaame tattve nirvikalpe' nidarane / na sthitir nsthitir vpi kasypi na kadpi v //

In the true nature of Reality, where all proliferation comes to rest, which is non-dual, beyond conception and appearance
In the sublime non-dual Emptiness-Awareness all conceptual proliferation comes to peace, no duality obtains and it trancends all appearances.

there is neither establishment nor non-establishment of anybody at any time.

Here the dualities of attainment and establishment are absent, and the conventionalities of place, time and person do not exist. All proliferation is at rest.

Verse Four

naivtra ca dvaya prpta ndvaya na dvaydvaya / nnyo naiva samo vpi dukhasynto'yam advaya //
Here no duality obtains, nor indeed does non-duality, nor any combination of the two. This is neither differentiated nor equal, it is the truly non-dual, the End of Sorrow.
The conventionalities of non-duality, and the duality it presupposes, does not obtain here. There is no division, no seperation or equality here. This is nonduality untouched by conception, the true End of Sorrow.

Conclusion

rutv vicrytha ca bhvayitv yog hi tattva pari~icinoti / nicitya tattva yuganaddharpa sa niprapace parame rameta //
Only after listening, reasoning and thence meditating the yog thoroughly ascertains the tattva - the Nature of Reality. Having gained certainty in the tattva in the form of Perfect Coalescence, he should duly come to peace in the ultimate nature of Non-elaboration.
Only the true practitioner, the yog, can approach and ascertain the nature of reality. He approaches it through the Threefold Wisdom of Learning, Reason and Meditation (rutamay-, cintmay- and bhvanmaypraj). Ascertainment destroys delusion, ignorance and self-clinging. Thence Reality dawns as the Perfect Coalescence of Emptiness-Awareness, and the yog comes to rest in Ultimate Non-elaboration.

Pondering the profound teachings of the Mahyna and the graduated path of meditation, these simple verses were written as an easy summary for students, and dedicated to most venerable Khenchen Konchog Gyaltsen Rinpoche with a prayer for his continued turning of the Wheel of Dharma.
