If a candidate is unable to fill his/her on-line choice sheetand thus not in a position to bring the printed copy tothe counselling institute, he/she can avail on-line formfilling facility at the counselling institute. This facility willonly be available from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM duringJune 9 – 12, 2010.Candidates belonging to the SC, ST and PD categories willbe paid second class/sleeper class return railway fare fromthe place of their normal residence to the place of counsellingon production of a photocopy of valid travel document.Candidates who qualify in PD subcategory will have toappear before a special Medical Board at
one of thefollowing IITs: IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati or IITMadras.
Two seats are available for preferential allotment in eachinstitute for children of defence/ paramilitary personnel killedor permanently disabled in action during war or peace timeoperations (DS Category). Candidates belonging to DScategory must bring the original certificate issued by thecompetent authority in the Directorate of Resettlement andRehabilitation, New Delhi under the Ministry of Defence orMinistry of Home affairs, Government of India.
1.4 SEAT ALLOTMENT1.4.1 First Allotment
First allotment of seats will be declared on JEE websites ofall IITs on 28
June 2010. These candidates will have to paya Registration Fee of Rs.40,000/- (Rs. 20,000/- for SC/ST/ PD candidates) to confirm the seat allotted to him/her. Thisamount will have to be paid through a Demand Draft favouring“The Registrar” of the institute to which he/she has been allotteda seat and can be submitted as soon as possible in person byvisiting
any of the following IITs:
Bhubaneswar, Bombay,Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras,Patna, Rajasthan, Roorkee, IT-BHU Varanasi or ISM Dhanbadand obtaining an official receipt. This payment must be madebefore 16.00 hours on 12
July 2010. This amount will beadjusted towards the fee to be paid at the time of admission.While submitting this fee the candidate will be asked toexercise an option for the second allotment. He/she can optfor any one of the following:
I do not want to participate in the second allotmentas I am satisfied with the course allotted to me in the firstallotment itself;
I may be considered for allotment to any othercourse in my choice sheet in order of priority only at the sameinstitute where I have got my first allotment;
I may be considered for any course in my choicesheet in order of priority across any of the institutes.
1.4.2 Second Allotment
A second allotment will be made and published in the JEEwebsites of all IITs on 16
July, 2010. The followingcandidates will not be considered for second allotment:

.After the second allotment all candidates must report to theinstitute to which they have been allotted seat on the date ofregistration (refer the backside cover of this brochure) so asto complete the registration formalities including payment offees.
1.4.3 Allotment of Seats to PD Candidates
Allotment of seats to selected candidates with PhysicalDisabilities (subcategory PD) belonging to different categories,i.e., GE, OBC(NCL), SC and ST, will be made category-wisein JEE-2010. Up to 3% of the total seats available to eachcategory in each of the institutes will be made available tothe PD candidates. These seats will be allotted to PDcandidates according to their categories, ranks in thecategory-wise PD merit list and the choice sheet of coursessubmitted. Since the allotment of at least one seat in everycourse in every institute to PD candidates will lead to morethan 3% reservation, these PD seats will be allotted to differentcategories over the years on a roster basis.This year, the seats available to PD candidates be-longing todifferent categories are given in
1.4.4 Counselling for Preparatory Course
All the fifteen IITs, IT-BHU and ISM are running preparatorycourses for SC, ST and PD candidates for one year duration.After successful completion of this course these candidateswill be eligible for admission to appropriate courses in theinstitute where they are undergoing the course in the nextacademic year (2011-12) against the vacancies of 2010.
1.5PHYSICAL FITNESS AND MEDICALEXAMINATION
Each candidate must bring a Medical Examination Reportfrom a registered medical practitioner, in the prescribed format,which can be downloaded from the Counselling website.Candidates will be admitted only if they are physically fit forpursuing a course of study at the participating institutes.In the case of PD candidates, the degree of physical handicap,as well as their fitness to undergo the course of study in whichadmission is sought will be certified by a duly constitutedSpecial Medical Board.
