Invitation | The Academy 2012
Kandersteg International Scout Centre (KISC) | Switzerland26 to 30 October 2012Aim and Background
The basic aim of the Academy is to provide an integrated solution to training and sharingexperiences in many aspects of Scouting and Guiding, and to give a holistic approach todevelopment, concentrating on key aspects of the Regional Plans.In 2012, the Academy will specifically focus on
Embracing Change
, one of the three jointareas of work, as well as on development issues, including management of associationsand personal development.The event will be modular to allow self-selection of a training schedule. Modules will beoffered more than once and the event will enable participants to choose their own paceof learning. The programme will start on Thursday evening with an introductory session andcontinue until Monday evening.

Members of national boards or national strategy teams
 
Those involved with management, representation, development
 
Professional staff, individual experts and commissioners
 
There is no age limit
 
Multiple entries from associations are actively encouraged
Dates
The Academy will be held from
26 to 30 October 2012
. If participants wish to attend allpossible sessions, they should
arrive at the venue before 19:00 on 25 October 2012
and
leave any time on 30 October 2012
. Of course, participants may tailor their arrival anddepartures to a shorter period.

Kandersteg International Scout Centre (KISC), inKandersteg, Switzerland

Accommodation of participants will be provided by KISC, on the following basis:

The
programme of the Academy
is provided on the official Academy websitehttp://academy.europak-online.net.A detailed description of each session, providinggoals, objectives and expected outcomes, will be published on 1 August 2012.In addition to the sessions, the host team and KISC will offer 
various social and sportiveactivities
, including official KISC activities. The participation fee includes one official KISCactivity per day.
Registration
The
online application form
is available on the official Academy websitehttp://academy.europak-online.net.It should be
submitted by
 
31 July 2012
. After theapplication deadline, the list of participants will be sent to International Commissioners for their approval.
Travel arrangements
Once participants have been selected and approved, they will receive acceptanceletters by 20 August 2012.
All participants should then make their own travel arrangementsand, if necessary, obtain a visa
. If you require an official invitation letter to obtain a visa,please indicate this clearly on your application form. Please be aware that it may take asignificant amount of time to obtain a visa, so please send your visa form with theapplication form in order to allow sufficient time for visas.KISC may be one of the most prominent places in the Scout and Guide universe, but it isfor sure not the most centrally located in the world. We want you to travel as safely,efficiently and cleverly as possible. To get there, we generally highly recommend
 travelling via Berne
(please consider to fly directly to Berne Airport, which is the closestairport nearby Kandersteg). For more information about clever travelling, please consulthttp://academy.europak-online.net. 
Participation fee
The participation fee amounts to
CHF 96.- (Eur 80.-) per day
. It covers accommodationand meals for 24 hours, programme materials and documentation, as well as one officialKISC activity per day. The
exact amount, which will depend on the duration of the stay,
willbe advised in a separate mailing.
Bank details for paying
the event participation fee willbe indicated in the acceptance letter.Organisations and associations that applied for the
Youth in Action application
will beinformed in due time about the results
 – 
it is expected to receive an answer from the CH-YiA Foundation at the beginning of July 2012.
