The Occupational Safety & Health Administration uses data on workplace injuries to establish DART rates (Days Away, Restrictions and Transfers) for employers. The rate represents the number of accidents per 100 employees that were severe enough to require workers either take off, be reassigned or go on restricted duty, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. The national average DART rate is 1.8. Employers in New York state with DART rates of 2 or higher in 2010 are included in this database.
