REVISED WESLEY HIGHSCHOOL RULES (1992)
The Purpose of these rules is to ensure a high standard of discipline andmorals, necessary for an orderly, smooth and happy running of the school, aswell as the maintenance of the atmosphere necessary for maximumacademic performance.All pupils, as well as their Parents and Guardians, are requested to study therules carefully and to do all they can to co-operate with the schoolauthorities.……………………………..1.
WITHDRAWAL
 A term’s notice in
WRITING
is required if a child is to be taken awayfrom school.2
. BOOK & EQUIPMENT
Every pupil
MUST
 possess each of the prescribed textbooks. Your Daughter will be sent home failing this request. In addition, each pupilmust possess an English Language dictionary, French/English andSpanish/English Dictionary, 2 blue-ink ball point pens, 2 pencils,2 writing pads, coloured pencils, ruler and Geometry set.*Parents are asked to note particularly that pupils cannot make progressif they do not have the necessary books.3.
ABSENCE FROM SCHOOL
 3.1
 
ALL CASES OF ABSENCE MUST BE EXPLAINED
 
INWRITING
by the parent(s) or guardian(s) of the students and
SIGNED
 by him/her. *No written explanation signed by students, and no verbalexplanation of student will be accepted. Therefore, students any studentwho has been absent from school for any reason, and for any length of time, must ensure that BEFORE RESUMING ATTENDANCE SHEHAS OBTAINED A WRITTEN EXPLANATION from parent(s)/guardians(s). Any absence without explanation will be regarded as aserious breach of the school discipline.
 
 
3.2 ALL ABSENCES WILL BE RECORDED in an appropriate register,and all EXPLANATION OF ABSENCE KEPT IN THE STUDENT’SFILE.3.3 Any student who has been absent from school for any reason and for any length of time, must on RESUMING ATTENDANCE, REPORTDIRECTLY TO THE PRINCIPAL AND SUBMIT HER EXPLANATION BEFORE JOINING THE FORM.4. LEAVING SCHOOL DURING SCHOOL HOURS4.1
 
 No student will be allowed to leave the school premises duringschool hours, including break periods, except in cases of illnessor emergency.4.2 No student must be on the street during school hours exceptwhile engaging in some school activity, or purpose authorized by thePrincipal, or someone authorized by the principal.4.3 Parents must ask students to transact business for them ONLYAFTER SCHOOL HOURS, for this WILL NOT BE ALLOWEDduring school hours.4.4 Students will not be allowed to go on personal errands during schoolhours. Breaking this rule results in automatic suspension from school.4.5
 
Teachers will not send students on errands during school hours.4.6
 
All requests to leave school during school hours in cases of illnessor emergency must be with the full knowledge and permission of thePrincipal, or someone authorized by the Principal.4.7
 
Only the Principal or his/her nominee or someone authorized to doso, has authority to grant students permission to leave the school duringschool hours.5.
VISTORS TO STUDENTS
 5.1 Any person wishing to see a student during school hours must firstsee the Principal, the Secretary or a Teacher and obtain permission.Therefore no person may enter the school compound and approach anystudent directly, without first obtaining permission.
 
 
5.2 Visitors will be allowed to see students during the BREAK PERIODONLY except in cases of emergency.6.
CONDUCT
6.1
 
All of the following are regarded as totally unacceptable forms of  behaviour, and any student engaging in any of them will bedisciplined accordingly.a.
 
loud talking, shouting, brawling and quarrelling. b.
 
fightingc.
 
cursing, swearing, using indecent language.d.
 
lying, making false complaints or accusations, defaming or discrediting any student or teacher.e.
 
stealing, cheating.f.
 
defying the authority of the Principal and Staff of the school.g.
 
 participating in activities deemed to be immoral, indecent, or will bring disrepute to the school’s name. e.g. exposure,cheerleading, (pom pom) flagwavers, queen shows, and the like.6.2
 
Any students guilty of persistently breaching the discipline of theschool will be EXPELLED.6.3
 
Courtesy and respect must be shown at all times to all members of the Teaching and the Ancillary staff.6.4
 
 No eating is allowed in school except during breaks. Ices, tamarind balls etc. must not be taken in the classroom. Girls should not be seeneating & drinking on the street, either in or out of uniform.7.
CHEWING GUM IS FORBIDDEN AT ALL TIMES
The possession of chewing gum and the chewing of gum on the schoolcompound is forbidden AT ALL TIMES.8.
UNIFORM
(Appendix 1)a.
 
Girls must be in proper uniform at all times b.
 
Plain black shoes only are acceptedc.
 
Knee-high length navy-blue socksd.
 
The crest or in-sign be worn at all times.
