G8 Members
The Group of Eight (G8) refers to the group of eight highly industrialized nations--France,Germany, Italy, Great Britain, Japan, UnitedStates, Canada, and Russia--which hold a yearlymeeting, the G8 Summit. Meetings are intendedto foster consensus on global issues such aseconomic growth and crisis management, globalsecurity, energy, and terrorism. Because the G8 islimited in its membership and unable to force itsmembers to comply with the summit's policiesand objectives, some experts question its overalleffectiveness.
