: $47,952 - $59,504 (Management Confidential SG-18 Equated) plus $3,026Location Pay.

A Bachelor's degree
three years experience working inprograms for individuals with disabilities including: two years working directly with individualswith developmental disabilities; one year of advocacy experience in a human services field. AMaster's degree in a health or human services field may be substituted for one year of therequired general experience. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in, andcommitment to, advocacy on behalf of individuals with developmental disabilities.
Reporting to the Director of the Ombudsperson Program located inSchenectady, the Ombudsperson will be assigned to the Brooklyn Developmental Centeroperated by the NYS Office for People with Developmental Disabilities. The Ombudsperson isresponsible for serving as an advocate for individuals with disabilities who are receiving servicesfrom the developmental center. The Ombudsperson will: advise and consult with the individualreceiving services, parents, guardians, correspondents and other interested persons with respectto any complaints or issues; review and attempt to remedy specific complaints with responsibleand appropriate staff; receive and keep confidential any complain t, information or inquiry fromany source; provide technical assistance and training on the rights of individuals receivingservices and other interested persons and on the role and responsibilities of the Ombudsperson;and perform other duties as assigned by the Director of the Ombudsperson Program.
