Why Salman Khan worriedthe NATO
Salman Khan the actor recently courted controversyafter being mistaken for atroublemaker by none other than the North Atlantic TreatyOrganisation (NATO). Theincident occurred when theactor was shooting a gun chasein Zakho (on the Syria-Iraq-Turkey border), considered to be a volatile area, for Kabir Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger.A source from the unit claimsthat while shooting the action
sequences, the lm’s unit were
told to stay put for a couple of hours by the NATO forces.
The ofcial spokesperson of the lm conrms, “Salman,
along with 40 crew members,came under the radar of the NATO forces in the area whileshooting a gun chase and some
ring sequences for the lm.
Katrina Kaif, who will be seenwith Salman after four years,was not present during thissequence.”The espionage thriller was shotaround Mardin and Zakho. The
spokesperson adds, “Zakho
is a sensitive zone. Whileshooting the action sequence,snipers picked up the sound (of gunshots) as their forces had a base on a hilltop nearby. Four army helicopters were sent anda red alert was declared. Therewas so much confusion that theunit had to lie on the groundfor hours until local authoritieswere called to let NATO know
that it was just a lm shoot.”
Kabir Khan is not new toshooting in troubled locations.
The director’s debut lm Kabul
Express (2006), which featuredJohn Abraham and ArshadWarsi, was shot extensivelyin Kabul, Afganistan, after the Taliban’s regime ended.
The lm’s cast and crew were
reportedly sent death threats by the Taliban, but the Afghangovernment provided tight
security to enable lming.
