AESTHETIC AND ENVIRONMETAL RING ROAD ' S ACCESSION. THE VEGETATION AND
ITS ENVIROMENTAL FUNCTIONS
ABSTRACT
During the construction and function of a ring road which crosses a forest, is observed a change
of evironment. This change is related with the removal of forest vegetation, erosion of slopes, negative
intervention in the aesthetics of landscape, increase of noise and pollution. In this paper, the main cases of
forest vegetation are described and the more important environmental functions are analyzed, namely the
enhancement of the aesthetic value of the road landscape, the contribution toward the conservation and
protection of wiildlife and the ecological impact on the road. Finally a list of selected trees and bushes is
presented; the list could help during planting operations to use the species with the best environmental
properties.
