Taking their existing lake cottage, Musson Builders totally redesigned the interior and exterior based on the homeowners wants, needs and dreams and then proceeded with the transformation. Working closely with the owners on the design before and during the construction process The renovation included a master suite, an open floor plan to an updated kitchen, family room, dining area and sunroom. Other key features of the house include Hickory hardwood floors, exposed spiral ducting and nautical lighting design. As well as an antique Fireplace mantle. Of course along the way, new plumbing, heating/cooling as well as the electrical systems were totally overhauled. On the exterior a new covered lakeside porch, an outdoor kitchen, several new pergolas and Hurricane shutters are among the features that allow for the Key West feel. Four Seasons Design and Remodeling has established itself as an enduring presence in the Northeast Indiana building community. Jeff Deahl, founder of Four Seasons Design and Remodeling, began his career as a teenager working in his father and grandfathers woodworking factory. While attending Toledo University for mechanical drawing and construction, he worked on building and remodeling projects on the side. In the early 1980s, Jeff began Four Seasons Design and Remodeling, focusing on specialty remodeling projects and becoming actively involved in building industry associations. Jeff is an active member of the local builders association, currently serving as vicepresident. Jeff has also been active in the Indiana State Builders Association, earning a lifetime director designation last year. Over the past two years, the Four Seasons Design and Remodeling team has expanded to include Lou Salge as vice president / designer, and Reggie Johnson and Rich OBrien as project managers. Lou brings an architectural presence to the team with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Michigan, as well as previous experience in remodeling work. has great experience in project management and real estate throughout northern Indiana. Rich brings excellent construction management experience from the Elkhart/ South Bend area and has spent the past ten years building homes in the Michiana and southern Michigan areas. Four Seasons Design and Remodeling has the tools and experience to create and build any dream their clients bring to the table. They continually strive to combine value with service in a professional and caring manner. Four Seasons Design and Remodeling strives to be the building professionals that you can rely on and trust. This remodel project started out with our client being unsure if she even wanted to keep her home, it was dated and there were many issues she was uncomfortable with after 20+ years living there. The home was built in the early 1970s and was very contemporary in its day. The kitchen & main bathroom had been remodeled earlier but most of the home still had the typical dark woodwork of the era. The huge wall of glass overlooking the lake was suffering from moisture leakage, the bedrooms were small and a majority of the living space was not functional. The lower level was very dark and dated with poor lighting. This had become a real problem for the homeowner, sorting out issues that would make the home worthy of her future needs was almost overwhelming. She also was caring for two young grandsons so there where many things to consider for this family to be comfortable. A swimming pool was on the list as the lake was a distance away down the hillside. There was a stairway to the lower level in an area that was very inconvenient and made the kitchen a dead end U shape with no dining area. There was a huge exterior entry area and a small garage that could be repurposed. We had a great deal of odd, chopped up, and wasted space to deal with. We proposed a re-design that would address the wish list of changes our client desired and the new design and floor plan grew into this wonderful project of converting nonfunctional, wasted space to accommodate our clients new needs in life without the stress of selling her home and moving. Many details evolved from the start. The hickory kitchen laid the groundwork for all new hickory trim, doors and flooring. The wall of glass was replaced and pushed forward with energy efficient windows and doors. The stairway moved and the kitchen opened into a new dining area. Most of the gorgeous cabinets were reused in the kitchen, even the solid surface counter tops were refitted. The entryway and garage became living space. We made the home as maintenance free as possible with a metal roof, insulated vinyl vertical siding and composite decking. The lower level is now bright and comfortable with many new attributes. This is a must see home with too many upgrades to mention here!
