Major mangrove wetlands of India are classified On the basis of the spatial and temporal variations in these factors. The coastal zone of the mainland of India and Andaman and Nicobar islands is endowed with the presence of extensive and diverse mangroves. Changes in the floristic and forest structure of these mangroves due to changes in some of the macro-level environmental factors are also discussed.
