‘Dames at Sea’ a delightful spoof of musicals

he 42nd Street Moon theater company, devoted to
producing musicals, is currently performing “Dames

it starred a then-newcomer, 18-year-old Bernadette Peters.
The play, which was originally written in the early 1930s,
then had a run in London, a television adaptation and several
revivals before premiering on Broadway in 2015.

Keen gardeners often like unusual plants, cultivars that
aren’t found at just any nursery. Bayside Garden Center in
Tiburon has many novel plants. A while back, I got an in-

are uncommon succulents and bromeliads by the dozens,
which are easy to care for. A nice selection of air plants and
conch shells to display them in would be an undemanding
gift.
Green Jeans Garden Supply on the Redwood Highway
frontage road in Strawberry has many scarce and some-
times peculiar plants. It always has interesting garden
ornaments, such as the huge gargoyles that came in for
Halloween but would be great all year round for a gardener
who likes bizarre or whimsical ornamentation. Think Notre
Dame and the fact that gargoyles were thought to ward off
evil spirits — we could all use that, right? Technically, these
