Hi, I like your paper, there appears to be lots of experts discussing the Climate Change Issues, but very little action from Governments to make the required effort! I refer to your paper, page 14, commencing with the sentence, "The Stern Review commissioned a review........if they cannot cease, then they should compensate those who suffer." In assessing Broome placing Justice at centre stage, I would like to add some real-world examples that support his statement. I would even go further, they should not only compensate "those who suffer," but answer to their communities in a Court of Law. Many experts have been timid in their conclusions. I will explain. I live in Australia, over the past 12 years, we have been experiencing a continual cycle of decreasing rainfalls in the southern part of the Eastern States. This drought has resulted in; 1. Farmers going bust because of negative incomes, crop failures, no water, stock dying and bushfires. 2. Rural towns and communities shrinking because of bank closures, business shutdown, kids leaving for the city. 3. Highly educated metropilitan 'experts' advising government to buy back water licences from irrigation areas - and then producing reports that conclude that 'there is nothing we can effectively do to fix these problems. 4. Our Murray-Darling Basin [Australia's Foodbowl] is on the verge of permanent destruction. Politicians are in a state of stasis without any cohesive plan - and they ignore all input from residents in these areas. I have written a series of papers about methods to combat the drought, together with a mate [former professional firefighter] we have also developed a new plan to better fight fires - we have just had our worst natural disaster with the Victorian Firestorms.
