It looks like you are trying to do an Item Analysis. Do you want help with that?
There have been some changes to the spreadsheet, so here is an instructional sheet. Just likeyou would ask of our students, don’t come asking me for help unless you have consulted this. So, after you have run the Scantrons through the machine in the DataLink program(If you still don’t know how to do that, anyone at any given time in the staff roomcan assist you with that), the program will have something that looks like this:
Note: You should do 1 period at a time, export to Excel as a file, and then do the next period.
The thing that you need is the Excel Spreadsheet. So, go to Scanner Results and choose ‘Export to Excel.”Save the Excel file (GOOD GOD, PLEASE NOT ON THE DESKTOP. WE ALL HAVE FLASH DRIVES).Now comes the fun part. Make sure that you have both the exported data file and the item analysis templateopen.

The Setup Page
There are only a coupleof things here.
You canONLY change boxesthat are blue in color.
Enter the class name thatthe analysis is for andyour name. Then, list thedifferent topics that youare testing. You may nolonger change whatmakes mastery orapproaches it. I’ve shownan example from myPhysics class.
The Data Grid (Once Data Grid is set up, all the other tabs will also be set up. You will only need to enterstudents and responses after this one is done.)
This is the only other page that will need some input other than actual student names or scores. Along the top, notice the Answer Key and the Topic rows. Questions 1-50 should ONLY be used for MC. You should just putthe answer for each question as shown. You should also label each question as a topic. This is done by selectingthe box, which will access adropdown menu. In thismenu will be the differenttopics that you listed on theSetup Page. Simply choosethe topic from the list foreach question. On allsubsequent pages, thisinformation will be copiedover, so you don’t have to dothis step on every page.
Extended Response
To use the Extended Response portion of the spreadsheet,go to the right past Q50. Where the answer key had beenbefore should now be the point value for each question. The topics are selected using the same method as before. In the area below, you should enter the point value thatthe student scored. The spreadsheet will stay yellow forany student that scored a 0, turn green for any studentwho received full credit on that question, and be white foranything in between. The average score on each question, along with the number of students who scored a 0 and thenumber of students who received full credit, willautomatically appear in the chart above.

Adding Students and Responses
From the file you exported, click on the tab at the bottom that says Results Grid. You will have to use copy and paste two times. First, highlight the names of students and their ID numbers andplace them in Cell D12 in the analysis spreadsheet. It looks sloppy, so when the clipboard pops up, click on itand choose Match Destination Formatting. You may need to widen the columns so that the names of thestudents fit. Then it will be nice and pretty.
Copy from exported document….. and paste into the analysis spreadsheet. But make it look pretty!!
 BOOOOO

 UGLY UGLY UGLY YAAAAY!!!
☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺
PRETTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Now, onwards to student responses! Again, you should be on the Results Grid tab in the exported Excelspreadsheet. Highlight all of the studentresponses. You have already typed in the answerkey, so don’t highlight that row this time, or elseit will throw your data off. When you have ithighlighted, you will see a green triangle in everybox. This is an error that you can fix easily. Click on the box with the exclamation point, choose“Convert to Number,” and watch the magichappen. Now you can copy this data and paste itinto your spreadsheet into Cell F12.Again, formatting is an issue, so choose the Clipboard andchoose Match Destination Formatting. If a response isincorrect, it will turn yellow. A correct response will staywhite. All of the scores and analysis should automaticallycalculate now.
