This group deals with all forms of self-organization in the sciences and human culture. These include chaos and complexity theory, Ilya Prigogine's work, fractals and the Mandelbrot Set, Hayekian and von Mises economics, Adam Smith, Jane Jacobs, Robert Wright's Non-Zero-Sum Society, free societies, physical evolution, biological evolution, cultural evolution, Ray Kurzweil's Singularity and accelerating technological change, the evolution of science, the human brain, Minsky's Society of Mind, Hofstadter's strange loops and tangled hierarchies, emergence of human consciousness, Daniel Dennett's work, path dependency, distributed intelligence, and all other uncommanded, unplanned forms of emergent order. My essays are all devoted to various aspects of self-organization. I invite you to participate by including your work of emergence in this group. Perhaps this group will evolve into something extraordinary.
