Welcome to the Beta-Gershom community Group, a place where Descendants of Jewish Intermarriage can share information and celebrate and uphold their Jewishness !

Beta-Gershom.org and Half-Jewish.org are a website covering topics relevant to Descendants of Jewish Intermarriage.

"Beta Gershom" is our preferred term for "Descendant of Jewish Intermarriage", although "Half-Jewish" is occassionally used.

Membership in this Group is only for Descendants of Jewish Intermarriage. Visitors can view (but not create) content.

As a Member you can:

- Maintain your own profile, where you can describe yourself and your Jewish background.

- View, Post, Rate, and Comment on documents.

- Participate in, and start Discussion Topics.

We hope you'll enjoy participating in this, our Information Sharing community group. And remember, at this site, we always honor how YOU self-identify, whether as a Jew, or as a non-Jew.

Before registering for membership, please be sure to read our Terms of Engagement (to register and make use of the community site, you will be asked to abide by these) :

1) The community strives to uphold Jewish values, the most important of which is the Torah (specifically the TaNaKh or Written Torah). Talmudic references that support the Written Torah are welcome, however keep in mind that some Jewish communities (e.g. Karaites, Falasha Ethiopian Jewry, Samaritan Jews) do not recognize the Talmud.

2) Beliefs outside the Torah are not the focus of the community site. We recognize that Beta Gershom have religious beliefs that originate from their non-Jewish backgrounds. As long as those beliefs do not contradict the Torah and as long as those beliefs are not the focus of the discussions in the community site, then you are within the Terms of Engagement.

Regards,
the staff
