The Hermes Trismegistus Group is a community of seers and seekers of truth who embrace these esoteric writings and traditions in the hope of an evolution in individual and group clarity.

According to Frances A. Yates, author of "Giordano Bruno and the Hermetic Tradition", the writing of said author Hermes Trismegistus are in fact a collection of writings under the anonymity of the Hermes title.

From this study of the Hermetic writings on occult and esoteric issues we find our search in many traditions, practices, and philosophies and therefore will except many kinds of documents that lead to pneumaticos, (Greek - things of the spirit).

The writings attributed to Hermes Trismegistus date to somewhere between 100 and 300 AD. The Renaissance Magus thought it to be of profound Egyptian antiquity. However it is more likely to be a number of Greek authors combining a mixture of Platonism and Stoicism, with some Jewish and Persian influences.

Quote from Frances A. Yates, author of "Giordano Bruno and the Hermetic Tradition"
"The Asclepius purports to describe the religion of the Egyptians, and by what magic rites and processes the Egyptians drew down the powers of the cosmos into the statues of their gods. This treatise has come down to us through the Latin tradition formerly attributed to Apuleius of Madaura. The Pimander (the first of the treatises in the Corpus Hermeticum, the collection of fifteen Hermetic dialogues) gives an account of the creation of the world which is in parts reminiscent of Genesis. Other treatises describe the ascent of the soul through the spheres of the planets to the divine realms above them, or give ecstatic descriptions of a process of regeneration by which the soul casts off the chains which bind it to the material world and becomes filled with divine powers and virtue."

Quote from author Robert Wang, "The Qabalistic Tarot" regarding the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn.
"The "Hermetic" emphasis of the Golden Dawn on the Egyptian Gods was partly social, and partly traditional. In late nineteenth century England there was great curiosity about anything mysterious and obscure, the science of archaeology being still in its infancy (in 1900, for example, no Greek art prior to the Parthenon was known!). Emphasis on the Egyptian Gods served to separate the participants in ritual from the daily routines of Victorian life."

As the administrator of our group I encourage your comments to me regarding any misuse of our group documents or messages by name calling, personal attacks, or use of profanity. If aggressiveness and stubbornness is found toward an individual or the group, be prepared for your membership to be revoked. I love this topic of study too deeply to allow the poison of harmful words to darken our science of light.

Of our teachers, professors, and those of higher learning, I ask your patients in instructing our students. "Go ahead to enlighten undeveloped ones, but is should be the undeveloped one who makes the request, not the teacher. The student should approach with sincerity." by Hua-Ching Ni from "The Book of Changes and The Unchanging Truth"
