Create a new group

There are 3 types of groups on Scribd: Public, Managed Public, and Private.

Public, anyone can join

Managed Public

Private

  • Anyone can see documents in the group.
  • Anyone can join the group instantly without approval.
  • Any members can add a Scribd document to the group instantly without approval.
  • Public groups are useful for general subjects like Humor or Physics.
  • Anyone can see documents in the group.
  • Admins must approve or invite new members.
  • You pick who can post documents to the group -- just group members or just group admins.
  • Managed Public groups are useful for small groups who wish to focus on a particular theme, but want to maintain control over membership.
  • Only group members can see documents posted to the group.
  • Admins must approve or invite new members.
  • Only group members or admins can add documents to the group.
  • Private groups are completely hidden from group searches, and don't display on people's profiles amongst groups they belong to.
