Thanks for the suggestion! yeah I have heard canon, what about lenses. I have have heard NIkon has a larger selection is that true?

Hi - Nikon does have a much larger selection, especially if a Nikon D300/D200/D80 or similar camera is bought, as you can also use all their manaul lenses. Currently Nikon are also bringing in a huge range of new lenses - in the last year they have brought in at least 7 that I am aware of - probably more as these were the only ones that interested me.

that being said - can't go wrong with Canon or Nikon, however Nikon latest offerings are currently slightly better than Canons.

Not much to choose picture wise between any DSLR under ISO800 - but do prefer Nikon as over ISO800 if picture too grainy can convert to B&W and looks like film B&W (rest of makes don't).

Try each and every DSLR if possible to find which looks and feels the best.

Have always prefered Nikon as feel better in hand, plus viewfinder is brighter and feels bigger (always feel as though looking down a tunnel when looking through a Canon view finder).
