Danny Rampling Shares 20 Years Experience at The Top
Ask for What You Want!
OK we’ve all heard of ‘Ask and Ye Shall Receive’, ‘Knock on the door and the door will be opened’ and ‘Everything will come to he who asks’. Yep, this may sound alittle simple but it’s such an imperative part of your success in the music businessand also life in general. Do you know people who don’t necessarily have the bestskills for a job, but have gotten it ahead of other more competent people? Often, these are the vocal, assertive people who are not afraid of asking for what they want.Think of something that you would like in your life. Now think of someone who canhelp you to get this in one way or another: someone who can introduce you tosomeone, someone who has a skill set or information you would like to know moreabout.OK, so here’s your challenge. ASK them for their help. Here’s an important lessonthat you should be aware of and one that moved me forwards in my career rapidly. You’ve got to learn to ASK for what you want. What’s the worst possible outcome? The person says no, politely declines or very worst case, refuses to help you. BIGDEAL! You’re in no worse place then you were before you asked and at least you‘grew’ because you tried. On the whole, it is my life experience that if you are a good, friendly and honestperson that people like to help others. If you ask for genuine help in a sinceremanner then almost all positive people are happy to do what they can to assist you.Think about yourself. If a person asks you for help what is your natural reaction? Itfeels good to give and it feels good to help others.Think of someone you can ask for something now: advice, contacts, information or assistance. Push your comfort zone TODAY (not tomorrow, next week, or sometimein the future) and ask them politely and sincerely for what you would like………andsee what happens?
Modelling: Don’t reinvent the Wheel
Do you want to fast track your success? Here’s one of the smartest things you cando. MODEL someone who has got the results that you want. Life is far too short (andbesides that it’s merely not being smart) to try and figure it all out for your life.If you want to learn to make music isn’t it wise to invest in a teacher or course thatteaches you how to get the results you want? If you want to learn to engineer astudio, then go somewhere and spend some money on learning from someone whois an expert in that field: there are loads of options, invest in a course, a book, inpersonal tuition etc Likewise, if you want to spin like a certain DJ, then listen to howthey play, how they structure their sets, how they select their tunes, how they mix(length, style, fluidity etc). This is one of the most simple, powerful and profound tips I can share with you.EVERY successful person uses this whether they are conscious of it or not. Think of it as a recipe for success: if you want to learn to cook like a professional who hasdedicated their LIFE to learning, then pick up a Gordon Ramsay or Jamie Oliver book. What do they do in the book? They tell you step by step how to prepare andput the ingredients together, how long to cook it, in what style and at whattemperature. And hey presto in minutes or hours you can distil a life of learning to get(OK maybe not perfect first time) a SIMILAR result. What have you just done? You’ve been smart, invested in learning from an expert, and cut your learning time byYEARS! That’s called ‘modelling’ which is a hugely powerful form of ‘leverage’.Everything You Need To Know About DJ’ing & Success
