The Amazing Quran
Introduction
One thing which surprises non-Muslims who are examining the book very closely is that the
Quran
does not appear to them to be what they expected. What they assume is that theyhave an old book which came fourteen centuries ago from the Arabian desert; and theyexpect that the book should look something like that -
an old book
from the desert. And thenthey find out that it does not resemble what they expected at all. Additionally, one of the firstthings that some people assume is that because it is an old book which comes from the desert,it should talk about the desert. Well the Quran does talk about the desert - some of its imagerydescribes the desert; but it also talks about the sea - what it's like to be in a storm on the sea.

Merchant Marine
Some years ago, the story came to us in Toronto about a man who was in the
merchantmarine
and made his living on the sea. A Muslim gave him a translation of the Quran to read. The merchant marine knew nothing about the history of Islam but was interested in readingthe Quran. When he finished reading it, he brought it back to the Muslim and asked, "ThisMuhammad, was he a sailor?" He was impressed at how accurately the Quran describes astorm on a sea. When he was told, "No as a matter of fact, Muhammad lived in the desert,"that was enough for him. He embraced Islam on the spot.He was so impressed with the Quran's description because he had been in a storm on the sea,and he knew that whoever had written that description had also been in a storm on the sea.The description of "a wave, over it a wave, over it clouds" (Surah Nur, 24:40) was not whatsomeone imagining a storm on a sea to be like would have written; rather, it was written bysomeone who knew what a storm on the sea was like. This is one example of how the Quran isnot tied to certain place and time. Certainly, the scientific ideas expressed in it also do notseem to originate from the desert fourteen centuries ago.

The Smallest Thing
Many centuries before the onset of Muhammad's prophethood, there was a well-known
theory of atomism
advanced by the Greek philosopher, Democritus. He and the people whocame after him assumed that matter consists of tiny, indestructible, indivisible particles calledatoms. The Arabs too, used to deal in the same concept; in fact, the Arabic word
dharrah
commonly referred to the smallest particle known to man. Now, modern science has

The Quran give a physical descriptions by using simile. It compares the physical description of a thing which wasn't available with the things that were in front of us. Since the all the technical terms related to the topics didn't exists then, most of the description is done using simile. This way those who have already rejected before examination can't argue over definitions. In fact its very di
thanks very much for Dr miller but i want to know is that true that he is from Kanada
lol........ FLUFFY2 there something call "History of science" ... read it
interesting doc! I'm proud to be a muslim woman
Since my last post,I got curious about what exactly Keith Miller wrote in his book about embryology and the Quron. I read it (page 9, ISBN 0-7216-9412-8, year of publication 2003). Here it is, verbatim:" The holy book of Muslims, that human beings are produced from a mixture of secretions from the male and female. Several references are made to the creation of a human being from a nutfa (small drop). It also states that the resulting organism settles in the womb like a seed, 6 days after its beginning. Reference is also made to the leechlike appearance of the early embryo. Later the embryo is said to resemble a "chewed substance" "Chewed substance" Great! This is coming directly from God? It is quite obvious Dr. Miller was not thrilled by the Quron, in contrast to what isdescribed in this article by Gary Miller. Now- Look at what Dr. Keith Miller says on the same page of his embryology textbook about early human development as described in the Hindu scripture, Garba Upanishad, dating 1416 B.C. !!! " From the conjugation of blood and semen the embryo comes into existence. During the period favorable for conception, after the sexual intercourse, (it) becomes a kalada (one-day old embryo). After remaining seven nights, it becomes a vesicle. After a fortnight it becomes a spherical mass. After a month, it becomes a firm mass. After two months the head is formed. After three months the limb region appears" Wow! That is more accurate than the Quron. The stages described in the Hindu scriptures actually goes through fertilized zygote, then a morula, then a blastula, etc. So, Quron is not all that scientific, is it? Here is my take on the Quron: Far east travellers from India carried all the scientific knowledge to Middle East. The primitive Arabs learnt what they could and put it in the Quron.
How is it more accurate. The quran give a physical description by using simile. It compares the physical description of a thing which wasn't available with the things that were in front of u. Since the all the technical terms related to the topic didn't exists then all the description is done using simile. This way we wont argue over definitions.
ohhhhhh............ ur so blind.........i feel sorry for you ...... i hope this is not perminute.....hopfuly god will give u the ability to see before its too late
I did not find anything amazing! Describing a strom at sea- anyone who can sit on a beach on a stormy day can see what a storm at sea is like. Smallest particle known to man described as the 'dharrah'(atom?) is no big deal.Ancient Hindu scriptures have described the atom as 'anu' Regarding medicinal properties of Honey- Ayurvedic medicine which pre-dates Jesus by thousands of years have described the medicinal properties of honey, and a whole bunch of natural remedies. The best part is the embryology stuff: I know of Keith Moore's work.He is obviously being polite in listening to the description of leech-like embryo stage. That is it? I thought God could have gone the whole 9 yards and escribed the entire events of fertilization, cleavage, implantation, types of placenta, and the phylogeny of Hox genes! Regarding solar system, Aryabatta before Jesus described a sun-centric planetary system, but the credit was given to Copernicus. In other words, Man has been brainy for thousands of years, and knowledge that we percieve emanated from the Gods is merely hased up books.
what is it you cant put one and one together and you need to be told it is = 2 ...daaa Allah gave us something called brain at least to some of us...hehehe
