DRESS CODEPurpose:
 
The purpose of the RWA dress code is to provide clear continuity and consistency
 
among student dress. The representation of student appearance is significant in that studentsattending RWA shall dress in a studious and professional manner. The dress code will be requiredfor grades 1-12. Children in grades Pre-K through Kindergarten may wear the “uniform” but arenot required to do so. Students attending RWA are required to adhere to the dress code duringschool hours and specified times described below. The dress code is subject to change and will beunder constant review.
 
Boys:
 
Boys in grades 1-12 are expected to wear long pants or shorts (knee length or longer) of an appropriate length in tan/khaki or navy blue color. Pants and shorts must be presentable inappearance without torn spots, rips, or holes from top to bottom. Jeans will not be permittedexcept on designated days. Pants and shorts must be accompanied with a belt at all times. Boysmay wear white, royal blue, navy blue, light blue and gold/yellow solid color shirts only. Shirtsmay be short sleeve or long sleeve. Dress shirts or polo type shirts are acceptable. Shirts musthave a collar. Shirts
must
be free of writing. Small symbols/insignias (as appropriate for a schoolsetting) are acceptable. (Richard Winn Academy insignias are preferable.)
White
undershirts aresuggested but not required. If undershirts are worn, they must be free of any writing, pictures, orsymbols that could be seen through a white shirt. Shirts must be tucked in during school hours.Shirts may come un-tucked during recess for grades 1-5 but must be tucked in at the end of recess.Boys shall wear shoes that cover the entire foot. Sandals, flip-flops, or other open shoes are notallowed. Boys can wear tennis shoes, dress shoes, or boots so long as the entire foot is covered.Socks are suggested. Hair must be kept neat. Hair may not reach the collar of the shirt or havebangs covering the eyes. Hair should be of a “normal” color. Facial hair must be kept clean andneatly trimmed. Boys can wear watches, class rings, and wrist bracelets. Necklaces can be wornbut must be worn under the shirt at all times. Boys may not wear earrings or facial rings.
Hatsare not to be worn in the building during school hours.
 
Girls:
Girls in grades 6-12 may wear a choice of pants, capris, long shorts, or skirts in atan/khaki or navy blue color. Girls in 1

through fifth 5

may wear the same items as older girlsas well as “skorts” and “jumpers” of a tan/khaki or navy blue color. Skirts and shorts must beknee length or longer. No mini-skirts allowed. Pants, capris, long shorts and skirts must bepresentable without rips, torn spots, or holes from top to bottom. Jeans are not permitted except ondesignated days. Girls are not required to wear a belt. Girls may wear a white, navy blue, royalblue, light blue or gold/yellow solid color blouse or shirt only. The blouse or shirt must have acollar. The blouse or shirt may be long or short sleeve. Blouses or shirts
must
be free of writing.Small symbols/insignias (as appropriate for a school setting) are acceptable. (Richard WinnAcademy insignias are preferable.) Proper undergarments are required and should not be of acolor that is visible through a white shirt. Girls do not have to tuck shirts into their clothing.However, if un-tucked, there must be at least a 3-10 inch overlap. No bare midriffs will be visible.Also, tight fitting clothing is discouraged as well as low-neck lines. Girls shall wear shoes thatcover the foot. Socks or hose are optional for girls. Sandals, flip-flops, or other open type shoesare not allowed. Girls can wear tennis shoes, dress shoes, casual shoes, boots, or other shoes solong as they are not overly distracting to the learning environment. Girls may wear hair apparel solong as it does not cause a distraction to the learning environment. Girls may wear watches, rings,and wrist bracelets. Necklaces can be worn but must be worn under the shirt at all times. Girlsmay wear earrings but no facial rings.
Hats are not allowed in the building during schoolhours

Athletics:
 
The coach for that individual sport will designate the athletic uniforms. Acceptablepractice and game uniforms will be specified. When attending athletic events but not participatingin the event at hand, uniforms will not be required to be worn by students. This is considered non-school hours and left to the discretion of the parents.
