Database Expert / Analytics Engineer
The Job
Do you love data? Scribd needs a rock-star developer with strong database skills to help us analyze the huge volume of data we’ve created. As an analytics expert, you will look for patterns in existing data, use A/B testing to optimize Scribd products, and build scalable infrastructure to analyze terabytes of data.
The Ideal Profile
We are looking for someone who combines a strong background in databases with an overall well-rounded engineering background. Demonstrated experience working with large database installations and working with user data would be ideal. This is a role for someone who is intensely curious and self-motivated.
Responsibilities
Build custom analytics infrastructure and reporting tools to look deeper into traffic data. Use extensive A/B testing to improve key metrics on Scribd. Work with other developers to build scalable database systems for exposing statistics data to users.
Qualifications
- Strong SQL knowledge, required
- Strong skills with at least one major programming language
- Good quantitative skills
- Degree in quantitative field, such as CS or Math, preferred
- Experience building web-scale infrastructure
- Experience with website analytics and optimization a plus
- 2+ years of experience in software development / data mining
This position reports to the CTO.
Availability: Full-time.
Location: You are preferably located near San Francisco, CA. Relocation assistance is designed on a per-case basis. In short, we'll be creative to get you here.
