Guadalupe P. Lastimosa, 72 y/o, currently residing at Capt.Claudio, Toledo City, Cebu. She is married with 9 children, a RomanCatholic and a strong believer of God. According to her, “health kayhimsog ka ug walay sakit”. She was admitted in the hospital lastSeptember 11, 2009 and diagnosed with upper gastrointestinalbleeding.
Development History
She has no physical impairments. Her health usuallychanges when the situation of the environment shifts. She often getscough and colds because of sudden change of temperature.
Health Perception-Health Management Pattern
She described illness as “dunay hilanat” and health as“himsog ug walay sakit”. She is aware of what health and illness is.But inspite of this, she has a poor management on her health. Sheonly eats when she likes and does not usually take rest.
Nutritional-Metabolic Pattern
She doesn’t have a good appetite in eating; she cannotconsume the meal served. She seldom drinks softrdrinks andalcoholic beverages. She regularly eats 2 times a day, that is, lunchand dinner. She eats fruits more often. Her usual meal composes 1cup of rice, vegetable soup, and dried fish. She sometimes does notlike to eat meat because she has no dentures.
Elimination Pattern
She eliminated bowel depending on the food she consumed.She urinates regularly especially when the temperature of theenvironment is low.
Activity-Exercise Pattern
She doesn’t have a regular routine for exercise. Her usualpast time is listening drama in the radio.
Sexuality-Reproduction Pattern
She and her partner used to utilize contraceptive methodsbut they stopped, considering that her partner is allergic to thecontraceptives. They have 9 children. Her menopausal periodoccurred when she was 52 y/o.
Sleep-Rest Pattern
Usually she sleeps at 8:00 PM and wakes up at 6:00 PM.She doesn’t like to have a rest during afternoon. Her sleeping aidswould include 2 pillows, mosquito net, and a blanket. She sleepstogether with her husband.
Sensory-Perceptual Pattern
She has a poor sense of hearing. She doesn’t like to wear eyeglasses because she feels uneasy wearing it. She isnearsighted.
Cognitive Pattern
Since she cannot hear properly and she cannot easilyunderstand if someone’s instructing her.
Role-Relationship Pattern
She always stays in the house. She can sometimes do thehousehold chores such as sweeping the floor and dusting.
Self-Perception-Self-Concept Pattern
She can identify herself and oriented in where she is.
Coping Stress Tolerance Pattern
She is not always that stressed because she only doessweeping and dusting. She doesn’t have any problems regardingher family relationship. She can cope up with her problems by tellingand asking support from her youngest son.
