Brenna O'Leary
How old are you?
"Six hundred fifty-four, if I remember correctly. I was born on October 24th, 1210 A.D. I am forever atwenty-six year old that looks more like sixteen."
What was unique about your childhood?
"I spent the very early years of childhood, like many other Irish children of the time, except for theunique freedom of thought I was allowed. My village was victimized by a plague. I spent my teen yearscaring for the sick and dying, watching as members of my family and friends passed, helplessly, to theother side.My early education was based on the local knowledge of the hamlet in which I was born. Most of what Ilearned as a child was knowledge granted me by my mother. After being ran out of the village, becauseof my inability to succumb to the plague, I was fostered by a priest of the Catholic Church and broughtinto London to begin my tutelage, under the guise of a boy.My family during those first formative years was the local chieftain of the village. Mother was a wisewoman and midwife to most. I had many siblings, more than I can remember. Though they have allsince expired."
What kind of person were you?
"I was a decent person, though often I was quiet and secretive. I didn't care much to expose myorigins. Being hunted by your peers and the families of those stricken by plague causes a person tobecome more introverted.I followed in the footsteps of my own mother by becoming a midwife. The knowledge I gained studyingin London, under the sanction of the Catholic Church, was also put to use by aiding the ailing people of the city."
What was your first brush with the supernatural?
"My first brush with the supernatural was the priest. I wasn't stalked by him, if anything, he used me ashis assistant. My first real taste of the supernatural slid down my throat, soaked by the priest's blood. Ihad no idea what was going on at the time.I had already formed beliefs in the Olde Ways, the Occult was as Mother's Milk. Mother often hinted atfaye blood in our family. "
How did the embrace change you?
"The priest that took me from the plague torn hamlet of my childhood became my Sire. I don't recallthe act occurring, just the aftermath. Being covered in dirt, lost and confused. I didn't feel pain, but thetrauma is still deep. I don't recall the Hunger. I don't believe I started remembering anything untilseveral nights after the Embrace occurred. I want my Sire to go to Final Death. I want my life and myfamily back."
Who was your sire, and how did he treat you?
"My Sire was insane and evil. My apprenticeship began when he and I absconded to London. He mademe his Ghoul, though I didn't learn that until later. I was not offered the choice to become what I am, itwas forced upon me and it changed me.My Sire had me stay in the Rectory with the rest of the scholars. I went to my studies and then to studywith my Sire. My Sire introduced me to very few people, as most were nothing more than tools for ourstudies of the dead, mad and diseased. I started to believe that the studies where not so much for thecuring of the maladies, but for knowledge of the illness itself.
