ear readers afterone year of search-ing, I am pleasedto sign the first editorial of Multi News Ireland. This isa multi cultural and multilingual newspaper directed tonon Irish nationals and Irishcitizens, where non nation-als account for 10% of ourpopulation on total of 4.2millions. This newspaper willhave sixteen pages includ-ing advertising our exclusivesource of finance. For all thenon national communitiesthat this paper does not reporton the reason is actually clearcut, simply because we couldnot enclose every world com-munity in Ireland. Therefore we apologise to the twenty siximmigrants from Luxemburgand the same for the 11161Mr and Mrs Chinese inIreland and to every otherneighbouring countries notincluded. I wish to extend toa wider range of communi-ties around the world in thefuture. To whom may stumbleupon how I came up withthis idea. My answer is “thatI was enormously anxious tocomprehend more about thesenew neighbours who cameto Ireland after the officialentry of the ten new statesinto the EU in 2004. Thus forthat reason I will always havepleasure in accepting positivestories from you as a non Irishnational living in Ireland. We thank you Sligo County Enterprise Board for the sup-port of Multi News Irelandduring all the project stages.

hen walkingdown Dublin’sO’Connell Streettoday I encounter Poles,Romanians, Lithuanians,Chinese, Nigerians and peoplefrom all parts of the globe, Isigh to myself that I was oncelike you – a new immigrant.Indeed, when I arrived fromGlasgow exactly thirty-fiveyears ago, in autumn 1972,I felt like an Algerian com-ing to Paris. A Catholic, bornin Presbyterian Scotland withIrish-born grandparents, I wasfamiliar with the deeply-root-ed Catholicism of my adoptedEire, the powerhouse of aspiritual empire. Yet, its over- whelming hold on the ethosof the Ireland then came as ashock to one accustomed to amore secular-minded Scotland.I still vividly remember my first impressions of arriving by boat at Dun Laoghaire. Thethrill of driving into Dublinon a hired van with all my  worldly goods, mainly books.Finding storage to dump thesepossessions until I foundaccommodation. The senseof being totally alone on aSaturday night in a foreign city  when my friend Bill Heaney departed from Dublin portreturning the van to Scotland. That Sunday I awoke in a hotelto face the reality that I wasnow living in a strange capitalcity: map in hand, findingmy way around by bus, train, sometimes by taxi and oftenon foot; adjusting to Irishaccents, as I tried to make my Scottish tongue pronounceintelligible English; the searchfor rented accommodation, starting work and saving upto buy a car and then my ownhouse on Dublin’s northside.Soon I made friends and nolonger felt an outsider. Butfrom time to time, I would betold “to go back to the Gorbals– a working class slum inGlasgow – where you belong.”I now belong to multi-cultural Dublin. But I stillfeel both Scottish and Irish.

S real estate and stock market crisis sparkedan investment ideato some brainy and wealthy Lithuanians, who startedbuying extremely cheap houses, hotels or even islands in America.Compared to Lithuanianmarket, US houses come twiceor three times cheaper, buteverybody understand that thissituation would not last. Tis is why real estate traders, who donot plan to go to USA and noteven have visa, browse on the web every day in search o gooddeals and buy houses withouthesitation. For example, one Lithuanianrecently purchased two storey 4 bedroom house in Detroitor as little as 19.000 USD,another is happy about moreserious investment – land lot onthe island o Caliornia shores. He paid USD 1.2 million orthe estate – the sum, which would not be able to grant himanything even close to bounty in America.
as vieniems blogai, kitiems – paranku ir netlabai pelningą. Be to, jos gerokaiaukštensės negu JAV.Neabejojama, kad dabarnukritusi pastatų vertė Amerikoje vėliau kils į viršų, oišpūstos nekilnojamojo turtokainos Nidoje, Palangoje irkituose Lietuvos kurortuoseateityje gali sumažėti.
