She taught me to love unconditionally, accept others for who they were and respect rather then judge. Golden rule kind of stuff. Oddly enough, I found myself reminding her of those things later in our lives. Sometimes the student becomes the teacher and vice versa.Being a gay man I've had to walk some hot coals to reach a place where I could express all the facets of myself without joining a country and western band. An interior designer by trade, I'm a father, author, artist, and good man seeking others that share in the bohemian parts of life mixed with a blend of creative symetry that allows for real things to spring forth from them.As Walt Disney once said..."If you can dream it---you can do it". My family has been a source of inspiration throughout my life. Not because they are perfect. In some ways they stuck by one another the most when they were FAR from perfect. In ways we all stuck together too when I was not stumbling around in search of the truth. We also learned to let go and forgive. We have all experienced uncomfortable exposure throughout our lives and some point or another. I believe that I learned the most about myself when I realized that no matter what I did or others did, that I could move beyond things to find a better way. Don't get me wrong......I just like everyone else, grimace somewhat when my covers are pulled. I think I've just realized not to take everything personally.When my father passed a couple of years ago I had to take a hard look at myself. It's ironic how much more compassion I had for him when I stopped judging him by the sum total of the relationship he and I had. I was less black and white about his failures or what I perceived to be failures when I experienced them for myself. Even with my mom I realized that life can be tough, and being a parent in a changing world can be a challenge. It was almost as if I had this inner voice explaining to me that I could choose to remember the mistakes (which is not good for anyone) or I could try to remember the good things. Who we are is our own masterpiece. The journey can enlighten us to notice the masterpiece of others.JCSI have many interests and some include home improvement, writing, photography, theatre, entertaining and the future. (Less)
